About us
Who are we?
For more than 5 years, we have been importing cocoa and cocoa products from Latin America under the Kakaw Co+ brand. Behind everything is our founder Martina Matejíčková, who, as a qualified public economist, wanted to combine her work experience in the integration of disadvantaged people with premium cocoa.
Another ambition was to lend a helping hand to farmers, often former coca growers for drug cartels, so that they could become proud and satisfied cacaoteros - that is, growers of premium cocoa.
Thanks to you, we are able to achieve all of this.
WE SPECIALIZE IN PREMIUM QUALITY OF "FINO DE AROMA" VARIETY COCOA
You can trace each of our products back to to a specific region, farm and even to the grower. You can discover individual regions in the taste of our cocoa – just like in wine or coffee.
Our cocoa always comes from one region, which is why it is labeled single-origin. It was grown and harvested by hand exclusively on one specific plantation (finca), which is why we can also boast the single-state label. Our beans are also from one variety – criollo, so we also speak of single-variety cocoa.
As part of our direct fair-trade business model, we visit our growers' plantations every year to check the quality of their processing – from harvesting, through fermentation and drying to roasting and processing of the cocoa mass. This allows us to adjust the production processes to meet our requirements and, above all, to offer you only top-quality products. Enjoy with us!
How are we different?
In Slovakia and in our countries of origin, the social impacts resulting from our activities are extremely important to us. In 2021, we became a registered social enterprise with our own integration packaging plant. We help people who are more difficult to employ here in Slovakia to find work on the job market, learn work habits, help them gain self-confidence in the work team, acquire new skills and work responsibly.
We cooperate with our Latin American cacaoteros on the basis of direct trade - direct fair trade, thanks to which they can ensure a dignified life for themselves and their families.
