Her journey began in romantic Paris or picturesque Zurich, from there she set off for Latin America, which she fell in love with, and today she has brought a piece of Colombia, but also Peru, to Slovakia.
The greatest and most inspiring stories are always hidden where we least expect them. Martina Matejíčková is a typical slender, brown-haired Slovak woman with a big heart, which is proven not only by her work focus, but also by her conversation.
She started her career in large corporations in Paris and Zurich, a city she had never even heard of before, but today she describes it as her second home and highlights all its positive aspects that you should visit or taste.
However, she decided to leave life in the big city and her steps led her to Latin America, where she started a large collaboration with former coca growers. What exactly does she bring to Slovakia, how is she perceived as a woman in business, whether she is not afraid to travel alone and much more she revealed in the interview.
Why did you decide to focus on cocoa and products from it?
I discovered varietal cocoa, something I had no idea existed before. I bought organic Dutch cocoa thinking it was the top quality cocoa in the world and when they let me taste their cocoa in Mexico, I was completely captivated by it and with each successive variety I was more and more "struck" by the different taste profiles, aromas, textures and colors, completely different from what I knew until then.
As a big lover of varietal coffee, I already had some experience and sensory skills, but this literally "killed" me in a good way and I decided to bring this cocoa experience to others.
Another factor is that in addition to the excellent taste profile, true varietal cocoa carries with it a number of exceptional nutritional values, even healing and stimulating properties that the Mayans have used since time immemorial.
