Detailed information

Product detailed description

Colombia Antioquia Medellín is a specialty arabica from the department of Antioquia — the historical heart of the Colombian coffee industry. Medellín, Colombia's second-largest city and the capital of Antioquia, gave its name to an entire region of growers whose coffee was traded on international markets for decades under the abbreviation MAM — Medellín, Armenia, Manizales.

The Supremo SHG EP designation guarantees a triple standard of quality: Supremo means the beans were sorted to the largest size screens (screen 17+); SHG (Strictly High Grown) confirms cultivation at high altitude; EP (European Preparation) means every bean was hand-sorted and freed of defects before roasting.

Beans of the Bourbon and Typica varieties are hand-picked from October to December and then processed using a combination of washing and sun-drying — a method that combines the clarity of wet processing with the gentle sweetness that natural sun-drying imparts.

The result? A smooth, medium-bodied cup with a cacao character and milk chocolate at the forefront, rounded out by the gentle nutty depth of walnuts. Not too fruity, not too winey — exactly the way Antioquia does it. A coffee you can enjoy at any time of day, on its own or with milk.

Origin & terroir

Antioquia is Colombia's largest coffee-growing region and the birthplace of Colombian coffee culture. Coffees from here are characterised by a medium-full, rounded body and a cacao-forward profile — less fruity and winey than coffees from other parts of Colombia, but all the more balanced and approachable for it.

Supremo — the largest beans, rigorously sorted

The Supremo classification is more than a marketing label. It defines the physical size of the bean (screen 17 and above) as well as strict defect limits. Larger, uniform beans roast more consistently — and in the cup that translates directly into clarity of flavour.
