Cacaofé - Guatemala Huehuetenango Bean Coffee
Product detailed description
Guatemala Tehuantepec is a specialty arabica from the Tehuantepec area in the Huehuetenango region — one of the few non-volcanic coffee-growing regions in Guatemala. Hot air flows in from the Tehuantepec lowlands in the Mexican state of Oaxaca, where it meets the cool air descending from the Cuchumatanes mountain range. This unique microclimate protects the coffee plants from frost and allows them to be grown at high altitudes with significant day-to-night temperature swings — and it is precisely these conditions that build the complexity you taste in every cup.
The extreme remoteness of the region means that producers process their coffee directly on their own farms. Behind this coffee stand four small producers — Lety Anzueto (Finca Isnul), Lety Perez (Finca Buenos Aires Huixoc), Rene Perez (Finca La Reforma) and Willy Perez (Finca Las Americas and San Antonio). Each of them grows the Typica, Bourbon, Caturra and Catuai varieties with an emphasis on hand-picking and careful sorting.
The SHG EP designation (Strictly High Grown, European Preparation) guarantees that the coffee was grown above 1,350 m.a.s.l. and that every single bean has been hand-sorted — defective beans and foreign material are meticulously removed before roasting.
The coffee is processed using the fully washed (wet) method, which gives the cup a clean structure and a distinct fruity character. Medium roasting preserves the natural sweetness of the varieties without suppressing their delicate fruity notes. The result? A full, sweet and fruit-forward coffee with dark grapes and caramel at the forefront, rounded out by the creamy depth of macadamia nuts.

Origin & terroir
Huehuetenango is one of the highest-altitude and driest coffee-growing regions in Guatemala. The unique combination of hot air from the Tehuantepec lowlands and cold air from the Cuchumatanes mountains creates a microclimate that protects the coffee from frost and allows it to ripen slowly at high elevations.
Four producers, one coffee
This coffee is the result of collaboration between four independent farms from different corners of Huehuetenango. Each farm contributes its own character — the result is a balanced single-region coffee where the individual micro-lots complement one another beautifully.
