This single-origin tasting kit showcases cacao from the Colombian region of Huila, renowned for its fino de aroma quality and expressive flavour profiles. The set guides you step by step through three forms of the same origin, revealing how composition influences taste, texture, and overall experience.
You begin with 100% natural cacao, offering a pure, intense expression of Huila’s terroir and the full strength of cacao liquor. The journey continues with 75% cacao blended with panela, where deep cacao notes meet gentle natural sweetness from sugar cane juice. The tasting concludes with 55% cacao with panela, delivering a smooth, harmonious, and approachable drink with velvety sweetness.
All cacao in this kit is made from natural, full-fat cacao mass, not from defatted or alkalised cocoa powder. Cacao is a natural source of energy, antioxidants, minerals, and theobromine. It helps reduce stress and fatigue, supports concentration, stimulates endorphin release, and strengthens the immune system.
The cacao comes from post-conflict regions of Colombia, where cacao farming has replaced coca cultivation, supporting peaceful livelihoods and a positive cacao revolution.
All products are hand-packed in Slovakia in our social integration packaging facility, supporting the inclusion of disadvantaged people in the labour market and contributing to the positive cacao revolution in post-conflict regions of Colombia.
Origin, Farmer & Terroir
This cacao comes from Finca Santamaría in Huila, Colombia, where it is grown by Luis Fernando on a family farm. Huila is Colombia’s largest specialty coffee-growing region and is also known for producing fine cacao. Almost every biotope is represented in the area – desert, savannah, volcano, river bed or rainforest. Thanks to variable altitude, slope, rainfall, moisture from the Magdalena River, wind, and sunlight, the region offers exceptionally diverse growing conditions. Cacao beans from Huila undergo an additional processing step after fermentation – rinsing with water – which contributes to a clean taste with well-defined fruit flavours.
The resulting cacao has a pleasantly intense character with medium sweet acidity and strong cacao background notes. It is particularly well suited for fruity hot chocolate prepared with water or for use in raw desserts with wild berries.
What is Fino de Aroma?
Fino de aroma is a designation used for cacao varieties with exceptional aromatic and flavour qualities. It represents only a small fraction of global cacao production and is most commonly associated with Criollo and Trinitario varieties.
